As long as your ok man, thats all that matters. Cool effect about the throttle and the lights going on at the same time though! Mad props!

Wow, that's freaky, who would have thought? Glad that you and your car were ultimately ok though! Scary stuff!

Let me suggest that the lesson to be learned is a little bigger than just that. For any mod that has any sort of safety implication, give the whole job a careful look after it's done. Have somebody more familiar with whatever do this if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself. But do get a separate set of eyes on anything new or unusual.

Particularly if the system being installed is either electrical or contains fluids.

And this applies regardless of who does the installation.

The little story that I have involves one of my son's cars (a '70-ish Chevelle) that he brought to a "performance" shop to have a trunk-mount battery kit installed some years back. I couldn't get to the diagonal cutters fast enough when I saw what had been done - the unfused battery+ cable had been zip-tied TO THE FUEL LINE!!! I am not making this up. It's been about 20 years since that happened (yeah, I'm old), but some things you tend to not forget.

OP - I'm glad to hear that there was minimal damage to anything beyond the lighting itself. Car fires can be scary.
