2015 Ford Mustang SVO 2.3L Eco boost in New JErsey
Anyone hear bout the 2015 Mustang SVO in NJ? Get more information on the 2015 Mustang SVO NJ 2.3L Eco boost. What do with the 2015 Mustang SVO?
Quote:
Return of the SVO? It sure sounds that way. According to the report Ford is not only developing a V6 Ecoboost Mustang but a 4 cylinder version as well. The 4 cylinder variant will reportedly be based on the 2.0L engine sitting between the strut towers of the 2013 Ford Taurus. The Mustang's engine, however, will feature a redesigned cylinder head and a larger bore bumping it's displacement to 2.3 liters. While the increased displacement will help create additional power we suspect that its more about paying homage to the original Mustang SVO which was also powered by a turbo 2.3L engine.
As for the V6 version, from everything we've heard Ford will be using the same 3.5L Ecoboost engine that is currently being put to work in the F-150 pickup truck. However, Motor Authority is reporting that Ford is also working on a new 2.7L turbo engine that will be put to use in varying FWD and RWD models including the Mustang. While that is definitely a possibility it doesn't seem to make much sense for Ford to offer both a 2.3L and 2.7L Ecoboost Mustang so we're still expecting (hoping?) they'll use the 3.5L instead.
Earlier this year Ford Motor Company Executive Chairman, Bill Ford Jr, confirmed that Ford is indeed working on a Ecoboost Turbo Mustang while speaking to a group of students at Princeton University. He did not say if it would be in a 4 or 6 cylinder format.
