actually it almost grew 9 times what it was worth. in october of 2008 when all hell broke loose ford stock was worth a measly $1.xx (somewheres in the .20-.30 range) per share. as of today ford stock closed at a resounding $11.37 per share. running the math if the stock was at $1.20 per share in 10/08 and using today's closing price, ford's stock has grown 947.5% in roughly 14 months. i wish i had invested back then when i still had some money at my disposal

So yours more than double!!!

good point, but i thought i was the odd one who invests money at our age lol. And yes my stock price has more than doubled so i have doubled my investment already. however its not technically doubled till the day i withdraw it and sadly have to claim it and pay taxes on it since its money i didn't work to gain. its between 15-35% that is taxed on unearned income from dividends and interest

i wanted to invest at that time but i was worried about Ford's ability to stay in business. their cash flow was pretty much stopped and they were taking huge losses. Now granted $500 wouldn't have been too much money to lose but i deemed it too high risk. but when Ford got its butt in gear again, i decided that it was time to buy stocks in them. I also bought shares of a few other companies that i know are going nowhere but up. it pays to be a wanna-be accounting major sometimes

haha always watched them years ago and had planned on doing it but never really got to actually investing unlike you til now.....still not too late to catch GM's .75 shares because they are cutting of loose ends and moving up as well....I think their stocks will jump up fast soon as well....just a matter of time.

Sucks we loose that much in taxes
