Default JDM vs Krazy House opinions/advice on which shop!

I have an update and need some advice here... So i have the steeda underdrive pulleys, and the gt500 throttle body with the adapter kit for the gt...

Here's a link to the original thread where I was asking about installing it or going to a shop http://www.njstangers.org/forum/loca...shop-9297.html (Install Help or Good Shop??)

i called krazy house and they gave me a quote for all of the installation. they said it would take about 3 hours so it would be $315 for labor.. they also mentioned that they could add a thermostat to keep the car running cooler and parts/labor for that would add $150 (i'm not sure exactly what that is). and for tuning it they said they could do a custom dyno tune for $400 with use of my tuner, however I have a Diablo Predator tuner and they can't use it or something so they would do a "sniper" tune?? or i could buy an sct tuner for $350... they said I would get 12 hp to the wheels from just the throttle body but with the dyno tune i could add an additional 15 hp... maybe also taking into account the CAI intake i have with a "canned" tune vs the dyno tune...

So then i wanted to call JDM to compare pricing. they said it would take about 2 hours so $230 for labor, but that I would need a new belt for the steeda underdrive pulleys.. for the additional part/labor costs it would come to $300 which is still cheaper than krazy house especially considering they didn't mention I needed a new belt. I think they assumed I had one or they would reuse the current one. I'm not trying to pick sides or anything I just want an opinion for what is necessary for me to do. JDM didn't mention doing a dyno tune so I asked about a tune and they said they would do one if i had an sct because they don't have the diablo software. if not, an sct tuner would cost $450 and dyno tune $500. do I really need a dyno tune? is it true i can get an additional 15 hp? I can get an email tune from BAMA for free since I have free tunes for life from my previous purchased tune... JDM said they would then install that tune if I had it uploaded to the diablo tuner for no additional cost. so total would be $300 for the belt and labor..

any help and opinions would be great! thanks!

You do not need a dyno tune for your mods. You also do not need to replace your belt to use under drive pullies. Oh trash and anyone can update your bands tune into the car. It takes like a whopping three minutes lol

In all seriousness the tb takes 5 minutes to replace. The pulley takes about a half hour with the right tool to remove the old one. Heck ill do it for you for 100 if you don't wanna do it yourself lol I mean I've done like six sets now lol

All you need is a 3 arm pulley puller to get the bottom pulley off.. start the car and see if the new pulleys are rotating correctly and then put the belt back on. You can even take a before pic of the belt pattern incase you cant figure it out or it doesnt display it on your car .... Stangman posted a link yesterday in reference to changing pulleys... Not hard at all. You should watch the youtube video he posted. GET A LIL DIRTY

I should also mention that the electronics from the stock throttle body would have to be moved to the GT500 throttle body...

I didn't think a dyno tune would be necessary for these mods but i mean it would make sense that it would add more power than just the canned tune.. JDM said that most people don't realize that you do need a new belt for the under drive pullies and that they definitely recommend it so that I don't get any belt slip in the future. the belt really would only cost $60 so that's not bad.. does your installation come with a warranty/guarantee? lol i'll have to talk to my dad about it but that would def save me a bunch of money

Basically what Tommy said you don't need a dyno tune and both are fairly easy to do. I've never heard of any belt slip with under drives and even if you have a bit it's only at high rpms and you don't have a blower so it won't do anything

I know Brandon he owns Krazy house he comes to my work all the time im in the process of setting up a dyno day there. In my experience with jdm they wanted 200 to install exhaust when I paid 85 else where and when I asked for a quote on a roushcharger they told me to install 2500 plus dynoing. Jdm I think they're on different pages the son and father. Brandon works on mustangs cadillacs Porsches basically everything and doesn't fantastic work. He has a CTS v, 911 turbo, lifted trucks and his wife has a CL63 AMG all worked on. Def go to Krazy house

Yeah like others have said you don't need a new belt when I was installing mine called around to see how much the install was and JDM tried to get me to get a new belt. I called steeda and one of their techs said it wasn't needed and didn't know why they said it was but could be a option if wanted. Not bad mouthing JDM it was just what I was told. Anyways you should give big daddys performance a call, I have had work done to my car by them. They are nice guys and have a cool shop. About to have them install my new longtubes.

yeah like my original thread, it would definitely be cheaper to install it myself with maybe some help from someone that knows what they're doing.. my dad didn't seem to up to doing the install ourselves and wanted to just have a shop do it but maybe now that he sees how much money it would be this would change his mind... what about the thermostat? is that something i need or should get? and what about an electric water pump? maybe if i do all the install myself or have someone on here help me out i could use the money i would save on that lol

You don't need a lower thermostat. Once you get into supercharges and heavily tracking a car then maybe. And an electric water pump isn't a good idea especially if it's a DD
