Default 2011 V6 JLT CAI = Amazing

So yea, I bought the JLT CAI yesterday, it arrived at my house today, and I installed today as well. I took it out for about a 30 mile drive.... I LOVE IT! It compliments my borlas very well and I havent even tuned the stang. I give it a 4.5/5.... but for a reason. Since I have an Auto transmission, I had to drill a 3/4 inch hole into the induction tube to allow a, extra piece to allow an extra hose to connect to the tube (No idea why Ford made this tube...), Had my dad help with the drilling (hole came out better than JLT's other two holes haha), then I fit the grommit right into the new opening, there was a little dimple on the induction tube though to help show exactly where I needed to drill which made it easier, just so you Auto tranny users know in advance. Overall install time was about 30 minutes minus the drilling, very simple install, I again have no mechanical experience. The sound is great, very throaty, and I noticed a more responsive throttle from the drive I took. JLT states no computer retune is required on the V6 model but my friend told me his 07 stang (has a bbk CAI) eventually had its CE light on, so he had to tune it to remove the codes which were because of his CAI. He thinks the same will happen to me, although I have restarted the car about 5 times since I installed it and still nothing.

Overall again I recommend this CAI to any V6 owner who wants the best looking, best performing, and easiest install minus the drilling (still fairly simple). Im in love with the throaty sound at 5500 rpm+

But back to MY concern on MY stang... anyone think the car will lean too much?? Should I tune it to avoid it overall? Or just wait and see if the light goes on? Anyone have any ideas??

that is great to hear! That's the one mod I haven't changed, I have the C&L version, but now I'm debating getting the Ford Racing setup after Carlisle since it has a complete box that will hopefully keep more heat away from the CAI

That might just need to be my next upgrade... better CAI + Tune. I've heard that the tune really changes the attitude of the auto Mustangs...

Performance-wise? Forgive my ignorance. What does the tune really do?

Without getting into too much detail, a tune will change fuel/air ratios, shift points and more to get more performance out of your car. You can also tell the person setting up the tune what upgrades you have installed on the car so that they can program the car's computer to get the car up to it's true potential.

exactly what he said, Improves the overall performance of the shifting especially for an auto, and it will maximize power of all your mods, I decided if I can get something in writing from my dealer saying they wont do anything about my warranty if I tune it (I've heard of this happening before) than I'll definitely do it (tune). I heard it makes it more aggressive sounding than it already does too which makes me wanna tune it more haha. Im telling you though, the JLT.. that mixed with my Borlas.... my V6 now sounds like a V8 im being totally honest, its amazing the difference in sound and performance

Also I heard that Fords REAL thing is that they wont cover warranty on an aftermarket part on the car.... this is what a rep from americanmuscle told me (Chris, but not Chris Rose for those of you who know who im talking about). Im gathering info on this as we speak from different sources to try and clarify.

Are you saying that if you tune it could potentially void the warranty on the entire car?? 'cuz that's a big concern. I wouldn't expect Ford to cover an aftermarket part - so maybe if I just do what you've done so far it will really improve my sound. About how much did the JLT and the Borlas run you?

Borlas were 1k for the cat-backs, the rear section is only about 650 after discount from AM, the CAI was about 260 from AM after discount as well. If you get both of those they will definitely improve your sound, but a tune will make it sound even better. Which is what Im debating on doing. As of right now tho when Im driving, anywhere between 2,000-4,500 RPM sounds like a V8 for gods sake, its amazing what the JLT CAI does.
