Default New Member Andy from Wayne NJ 97 cobra vert w kenne bell

Hello to everyone! Im looking forward to posting and hopefully figuring out a problem with my kenne bell SC (1.7 liter no intercooler) setup. I keep burning alternators as a result of overspinning. It seems that the shop that installed my SC had to put a smaller pulley on my alternator to get the clearance needed for the SC pulley which is right next to the alt pulley (about .050" clearance between the alt pulley and the belt as it goes to the SC pulley). I called kenne bell and they told me that there should be plenty of room and I was crazy. Anybody ever had this problem with a kenne bell? I have a stock crank pulley. Whole setup was installed about 4 years ago and I have moved far enough away from the shop that installed it that its a hassle to go back. The car is a garage queen for the most part so when I do drive it I just keep the rpms under 5200 (which sucks) but its worse when the alternator burns the rectifier and then the battery dies about 4 minutes later and then I get towed home. If I need to move this to another forum or thread just let me know.

Welcome to the club Andy! Please post some pics of your ride when you can.

If you want, you can ask your question in our "Tech Forum" too, I'm sure someone will be able to help you, but it won't be me because I have no clue!
