Cool Custom helmet speakers!

I know this is a mustang forum but alot of people have dirtbikes/motorcycles/other sports and hobbies that require a helmet for safety.

Here's a build I just did for speakers inside the helmet! Best kind of mod...Cost me zero dollars

This is for anyone who would like to listen to music on the road/trails. Alternatively, you could easily wire in a mic for hands free phone use as well. Though I recommend not talking on the phone while on your bike.

Did this with stuff laying around the house...

NOTE: This was NOT an easy mod. Required a decent amount of time, destroying an old headset, soldering connections, and thinking. Also, this will be specific to each helmet and speakers so it's really just a rough outline of what I did and the final results.

Materials Used:
Solder
Electrical tape
ZipTies
3m double sided tape
An old Logitech PC headset with 3.5mm jack
Brain (or lots of ice and band aids)

Tools Used:
Soldering iron
Snips
Pliers
Knife
#1 Screwdriver (I just used the knife lol)
Dremel with cutoff wheel

Step 1:
Gather stuff and things

Step 2:
Separate speakers from housings so all you have left is the speakers them selves and the wires. Go nuts, just don't break the important stuff.

Step 3:
Place in desired location inside helmet and secure using desired method (again, all specific to each helmet and speakers used). Route wires out of the way and to your device (phone/ipod/mp3 player/cat/etc.). I cannot recommend attaching the cord to anything on the bike. Keep the cord under your clothes so it can't snag on anything and won't get stuck to your bike if you fall.

Step 4:
Look over your work. Ensure it is safe, this is YOUR responsibility! Make absolutely sure it's safe/legal before using! That includes checking local laws on helmet speakers and also checking that your setup won't stop the helmet from protecting you in the event of a fall/crash/flying squirrel/etc.

Step 5:
Go out and enjoy your tunes while blasting (safely and legally) through your local trails and twisties!

The video!!

THE DISCLAIMERS: I am not responsible for any damage/harm/death/injury/spontaneous flames/etc. that occur to you or your property if you attempt this mod. I do not recommend listening at a level that can hurt your ears and block out important sounds (ie fire trucks/ambulances/police chasing you/etc.). This particular setup did not in any way change the structure of my helmet. It will not hinder the ability of the helmet to protect me in a crash. Check your local laws before using on public roadways. PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE HERE AND ENJOY!

Haha thanks Jon, it was all really easy except matching the time of the music coming through the speakers in the headset to the background music for the credits.

I wish I had time to do a full DIY for this it really was a sweet project.

Lol idk about that but perhaps. I just thought it was a neat effect and never tried it before. I like this camera alot so far too. Got some sweet footage of me and John on the trails today. I'll have to make a vid when I get more

haha nice! I'm trying to get myself a matching spare (wheel on backorder) before I attempt the trails since I don't have a spare now

Haha nice man. I don't think you have to worry about a blowout though tbh. There's no real sharp rocks or anything out here and you won't be dropping the truck off ledges.
