Good video. Dont get me wrong M3s are an impressive car but it goes to show money doesnt always mean youve got the best performer by a long shot.

yeah i think the same. the money saved from getting the gt would be a nice budget to put into the stang. But when i get into his car there is so many buttons and things that would take years to learn. Hes constantly finding new things about the car each day.

I wouldn't mine owning a M3 just for the fact of saying I own a BMW but at the same time, I'd take a GT500 or any other Supercharged Mustang over one. Interesting video ha

Angry This should stick a fork in it.

This is with Randy Pobst right? Randy is a god to me! One of the most sought after racers around, a very nice guy and started in SCCA racing, like me The stock Mustang GT has a lot of nose dive and the stock suspension is not world class - I say stock, because what he specifically talks about is easily fixed.

Really listen to what he is saying about both cars. The Mustang is more predictable, which makes it easier to drive hard and more fun. The M3 is a very high-revving engine - I think an 8,500 RPM red line and no torque until 4,500 RPM. It also understeers - which is not a good thing for a RWD car with power. As someone who has beat the crap out of both of these cars on the track, I would not buy an M3 for $70,000 plus.

After I get your butt on the track in my Mustang Jon, the only time you'll think about Bavaria is if you're drinking beer.

Well stated, and a lot shorter than what I wrote

Randy Pobst is the man! All it would take to make this competition a no brainier would be to throw a suspension on the Five Point Ohhhh. The set up I have from Roush is capable of 1+ lateral g's. There is no nose dive or body roll at all.

I am not a BMW hater. I actually love them. Before I bought my Mustang it was between the "New" (at the time) 335 and my Mustang.

I think BMW has lost their way with the V-8 M3. I have read they are going back to the 6. If they can keep similar HP with a blown 6 instead of the big V-8 ... it will help it get around the track better.

I have two friends that are BMW techs. Their advice is once the blown BMW's are out of warranty .. DITCH them. They are very expensive to fix.

I have no ax to grind with BMW so my comments above are "fair and balanced"

On a side note .. at Pocono last year I had a great time with a modded 135 coupe. That thing was a little animal!!!!

Same here. Except I went with FR for the struts, coils, etc. That alone put me over 1 G. Then I did the upper / lower arms, Panhard bar and brace a some other stuff. It's good to at least 1.1 G and that's w/out some new work being done.

However, I like BMW too. I will likely be racing E30's - original M3's - this season.

The new M3's are V6's with twin-turbos. The car is still too heavy, though.

Ahhh ... a spec E30. Or not so spec. I see a race prepped one on E-bay for 8K ... I want it!

Here is my buddies M3 for the track. The picture was taken in the same spot and actually the same session as my pic in my signature.

We have a great time on track together.
