Default New Toll Rates on Turnpike in 2012

Has anyone seen the new rate schedule on the NJ Turnpike site yet?

This state is getting out of control!!!! Took a look last night and they are insane!

Just a few examples:

15E (Jersey City/ Newark) to Exit 11 (GSP) was $2.60 to $4

15E to Exit 6 (PA Turnpike) was 5.90 going to $9.05!!!

Notice a scam here with these two increases??? Both are going up more then 50%? I guess they figure they are going to soak all the tourists and daily drivers that use these exits to get to the other major toll roads. (Don't you just love this state!!)

and my personal favorite:

Exit 14A to Exit 14 is going from $1.10 to $1.65!!!! All you are doing is going over the damn Newark Bay on the extension bridge!!!!

Don't get me wrong I know tolls have to go up but 50%!!! Cmon now. I'm not cheap by any means but looks like I'll be avoiding this road as much as possible in 2012. Already looking for a back way to the American Muscle show next year. Now way I'm paying $18.10 in tolls just on the NJ pike alone. That's more then the entrance fee to the show!!

So how is this going to affect some of you out there that have to use this for work everyday? Time to start looking for some backroads??

Wow they are totally trying to compete with the city! It's definitely out of control and I doubt anyone will stop it and sadly most people will pay the price since it's the only quickest way from up here to exit 11 or anywhere else.........it's just screwed up.

I'm currently at $3 to and from work. With the increase I'll be at about $4.50 a day. Looks like I'll be taking 1&9 to work from now on.
I like how they say it cost 11.4 cents a mile to ride the pike. When I'm at $3 to go 15 miles!

You are right that some people will have to pay the price but I say that about 20% of the current users are going to take a hard look at other ways to get from point A to point B. I know when the last increase hit I found another route to to the parkway. It may take me about 5 minutes more driving and I have to go about 8 miles further west but at least now I have no toll to Woodbridge instead of a $8 round trip after the new year.

oh yeah I agree, there's always the percentage of people that will find another way, so therefore their increase won't bring them in as much as they had hoped. But if they had done a smaller increase then they would've earned more and lost less to those taking other routes.

Not that I think they should be earning anymore than they are, just giving my business perspective to it.

The State is bankrupt because of poor management. They want the people to give them more money so they can all get raises for doing a crappy job.

Use 130 140? exit 8a jamesburg, 295, 287 etc as much as possible.

all i have to say is this is redicilous! the tolls should go down not go up. the turnpike isnt that horrible but the jump from 8 bucks to 12 bucks to get into the city killed me.
