Lightbulb Plastidip Users READ!

Hey all. So as some of you know I tested out plastidip on my car. I sprayed it on thin in some places and thick in others. It has been on there for over 4 months now.

I went to take it off yesterday to see how it holds up after being on there for so long.

I found that the back panel, where I sprayed it on thick, came off pretty easily and in just 2 big pieces.

However, the lower part, which I sprayed pretty thin, was a bit difficult to take off.

I had noticed while changing my diff fluid that a drop of gear oil got on it and made it very soft. So I took wd-40 and sprayed it on the plastidip to see how that would work. It softened it right up and I was able to basically wipe it off with a paper towel!

So if you have any issues with taking it off, try some wd-40

Now after seeing this I wouldn't recommend doing your entire car unless you spray it on thick as I had mentioned in the original post. I wouldn't want to have to spray my whole car with wd-40 lol

I don't think it's the thickness of it so much as the texture to the bumper. On smooth surfaces it comes off very easy, easier when thicker because it doesn't tear. If you spray it on cardboard it is a pain to get off cause the paint grabs on better.

it's always WD-40 or duct tape, isn't it? LOL.

If you Wd-40 the entire car, is it easier to park in smaller spaces????

I noticed this too. On my hood especially near the front, it stuck bettwer because the clear was gone. Still great stuff though. I didn't plan on taking it off though, but now I know a easier way
