Default What is the true car show definition of "Modified"?

Hey everyone,

Being very new to all of this, both Nikki and I (mostly me) are curious about what truly qualifies as a "modification". Some shows say you are modded with 4 or more others can differ.... then the questions arises if the modifications are performance or cosmetic.

What is the real deal on this?

Nikki has to date:
1. Stripes
2. Projector Headlights
3. Interior trim
4. Pypes Headers
5. Dual conversion with custom rear valance.
6. Painted Calipers
7. Billet 4-piece grille

Are headlights cosmetic or performance???? By my count she has 5 cosmetic and 2 performance mods.... so is she modded....

Steve has to date:
1. Side Scoops
2. SSS Exhaust
3. Ford Racing Tower Strut Brace
4. Steeda Lower Control Arms
5. Roush CAI
6. Stack Throttle Body Spacer
7. Various Chrome accents both in and out (Engine/Cabin/Flame Logo)

So I think I have 5 performance and 2-3 cosmetic... so I am modded no matter what....

Please help me figure out this great mystery of Mod vs. not Mod. We are trying to gear up to register for Carlisle and need to know...

Thanks for all the help and Happy Holidays to All of you.....

I only have 2 performance mods. Cold Air Intake & Flomaster Exhaust. Everything else is cosmetic and I have been putting mine in stock and no one has told me otherwise. Cosmetically I have a few.

Technically, anything you put on the exterior or interior of the car that was not originally from Ford is a mod. Headlights would definitely be a cosmetic mod btw

Generally I put Sheldon in stock, I have the dual exhaust, intake, and then cosmetic mods, but generally when I go to car shows they put me in stock b/c he looks stock. So sometimes it depends on what show you go to, something like Carlisle where its people's choice voting you could probably get away with doing stock for both cars to be honest. I mean when I think of modifications I think of major engine mods, b/c if you have 3 or more, but they are just wheels, intake and dual exhaust like Sheldon and you put me in mod with guys that have superchargers it doesn't really seem fair to me, but that is my opinion, I'm sure others will disagree with me.
