While I was out grocery shopping, I walked past the front of my car and found that it had been decorated in permanent red ink. I thought, “AHHHHHH!!!!! How long has THAT been there?!!” While grey cars don’t show dirt, they show red ink really well. Due to the writing style, I suspect it was my 4 year old. I don’t know where she got the pen, and I can’t figure out when she did this. At least she didn’t draw racing stripes down the sides, but that’s where the scratches are from the bicycle handles. I think Santa will be adding a check mark for her on the naughty list.
Since the cats have destroyed pretty much everything in the house at some point or another, if we DID have kids, and one ran down the hall with crayons and drew on the walls, I would likely be so laid back about it that I would take a pic, post it to Facebook, and declare my kid the next artistic genius of the decade.
I would not be so understanding about damage to either my car or Steve's....
Yup heard something similar on the radio this morning - a daughter had washed her mom's brand new Thunderbird with a BRILLO pad.
That's kind of a tough situation - because clearly they meant to do something nice. Not that the pink marker weilder above meant to be destructive....at 4 she can't really know better I suppose.

a little WD-40 will take it right off.
When one of the cats spilled my red nail polish on the arm of the couch and the carpet below and my husband had a coniption, I thought of you, and how much worse our contained incident could have been.
