Next time you hear a squeal or noise coming from the front engine accessories (this applies to any vehicle), with the engine OFF, pull off the serpentine belt and manually by hand, spin each front accessory pulley... you will surely find the culprit in this manner w/o (and unfortunately) throwing parts at the vehicle. It's a sure fire way to determine where a "noise" is coming from...
The tensioner and idler pulley are the culprits on most of the F-Series Fords, Explorers, Mountaineers, Navis, etc... For whatever reasons, the bearings used in those pulleys are prone to premature failure. One other tip - in most of the pulleys, that center bearing can be pressed out and a new bearing can be installed (instead of having to purchase a new tensioner assembly OR a new idler assembly). Most folks don't know that, but it can be done. All bearings have a part # scribed into them - find the same bearing manufacturer & part # online, order it up and that's the cheapest route to fixing a bearing issue...
