Default Figuring out Metal/Rubber Hose on 04 F150

I need help figuring out what this hose is on my 04 F150 and what it is connected too, even a part number and difficulty of swapping it would be great. From my brief examination it looks like one side runs to the radiator.

It had a decent leak coming out from the metal/rubber seam so I'm not sure how bad it is but I do know it's recent and my whole frame under it was coated in it. (Coolant reservoir is still at the cold fill line)

Bigger image if it helps: http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/a...-hose-leak.jpg

On the upside, I think I solved my Power Steering noise during cold starts thanks to Rob's Performance. He also pointed out that the 101" belt that Troyer recommends to run with my underdrive pulleys was too big (which explained my burp in power when i stepped on it due to the slippage). Spent the day trying different sizes, a 100.5 danced on it too so my dad and I went down to a 99.5 and it's nice and tight now.

Took it for a drive and even managed to smoke the 35" tires without even trying!

Just did some research using fordparts.com. I couldn't find any coolant hose that looked like the image I took on their site but I did find something under power steering.

It may be power steering related?

Power Steering Pressure Line Hose Assembly
4WD, 5.4L 3V V8; The Pressure Transducer Has Been Deleted From The Pressure Line. It Is No Longer Required

The Power Steering Pressure Switch Transducer is what I think that filter look-alike part is? It seems to be all one line and now the new ones don't have it if I read it correctly. Anyone know if it's actually that or if I'm totally wrong?

It may be a cooler line for the transmission or an engine oil cooler line if you have one. Trace the line back from the radiator and see where it hooks to. If that truck came from the factory with a tow package it will have an extra tranny cooler and maybe an engine oil cooler as well.

thanks to the help of some members on a F150 forum, I was able to figure out the actual line of the a.c system that it is....now the question is....anyone know how much this will cost to fix including recharging the system (if that involves more than just using the can which i've done)?

Jonathan;

After you have the part replaced you will need to do more then just add some cans of Freon. You will need to have the system evacuated. Which means they will have to remove all the air from the system. Then they will have to add the correct amount of refrigerant oil to the system along with the Freon. Sorry to say it might get a bit expensive. It would be a good time to go over all the connections and make sure there are no signs of any other leaks as well.

You know, I'm certified for A/C work, right?

Just get the line, DONT OPEN THE SYSTEM, and come on down one day. I'll evacuate the system properly, replace the line and recharge the system.
