Default I think the Tranny on my 04 F150 just crapped out!!!

Problem is I went to drive it and it barely moves in any forward gear....it wouldn't even make it up the hill by my house without putting my foot to the floor.....only made it up a block before the trans fault light came on and p0731 so I guess I'm f**ked!

So mad right now because I haven't been to work since early last week and now I probably won't be able today unless I drive it to work in reverse. I'm so screwed.......now what do I do?

Damn Jon that sucks man.

Did you check the obvious?

Fluid level?

Is it burnt/dark in color?

Did you have shifting issues before it did that? Maybe some converter shudder?
I just hate to think that a trans would simply "give" out like that with no notice whatsoever...

Maybe its something along the lines of a lockup solenoid? I would definitely have it diagnosed before jumping to conclusions.

ah yeah I know, fluid was changed at 43k so not that far away and it hasn't had any offroad type of driving, its been sitting since last thursday....ugh

I had problems with the 4wd a month ago and I replace the iwe solenoid and it stopped but now it just really has barely no power to drive, 1st and 2nd gears. I looked up the code and seems it has to do with the interns of the trans. I have code reader on the dash and the over-drive light was flashing on and off for no reason too.

p0731 is an incorrect gear ratio for gear 1 from what i've heard check the clutch setup up for reverse ford had problems with the trans on the 04-09 F-150s and the reverse clutch would wear down extremely quick causing it to break one of the circular locks which locks out first and second gear and leaves only 3 and 4

The circular locks? Do you mean the forward sprags? Or is that another part I only ask becuase I blew the forward sprag on the SS trailblazer I had ....I actually blew the rear which cuased the trans to kick up on a launch and it desintergrated everything lol that was the first of three transmitions I did last year then the sunfire and now the tahoe lol

it would go forward alittle but nothing over 20 or probably 15....it was crawling at high rpms and I know that definitely wasn't good for it with the overdrive light going on and off
