Default NJ F-Series Trucks - 2004-08 Ford F150 Tuner Options - SCT 300, PHP ro Troyer

Got a great deal on the SCT 3000 for my 2004 Ford F150 and tunes from VMP Tuning! I a big fan of the Edge tuners (like the newer digital color models for the new F250 and F350 models more) and I've been using Power Hungry Performance PHP Tunes on my 2004 Ford F150 5.4 for over 2 years.

I emailed them several weeks ago about custom tunes and I never heard back. So I am looking at other options, of which there aren't many I know too well.

Troyer Performance Tunes - w/SCT 3000 I believe is the only other than SCT.

There was an American Trucks site that sold SCT 3000 tuners I believe but not sure if they issued out custom tunes, either way it's no longer in business.

Anyone have any other suggestions.

With the new Gears, Tires and Pulleys, I really want to get some update tunes for Mac from a trusted Tuner, without breaking the bank.

Jon;

Check out vmp tuning as well. He mentions doing ford trucks on his website. Just not sure of the years off the top of my head. I have no problem with the tunes from Justin in my stang. It's worth a look. He only uses SCT tuners.

Thanks! I just got a pm from a f150 member who told me the same. Sent him an email to see what options he has for me.

Well I said I wasn't going to do this but their last response to me was rather interesting when I requested a refund since the Tunes were not working with my truck and he didn't offer any re-tuning like most other tuners do to adjust them.

I guess VMP Tuning is out for me in terms of Truck tuning.....they may be good at tuning Mustangs but they royally f'ed up my trucks tunes and cost me over $500 in damages to the fouled plugs.

Received tunes about Oct 21st and from day one, the first two tunes I tried stalled my truck randomly while driving. I reached out to him several times to get his answer on this and see if he could adjust it and he didn't.

So I tried the 93 tune he gave me which ran strong for most of the day but on my way home, my truck start misfiring....wasn't sure what it was but found it had fouled my plugs and coil pack....so I reached the conclusion that it was spark plug related. Took it to a shop who did a great job fixing my truck and telling me what was wrong.....not happy.

Reached out to Justin several more times about solution and when he kept dragging me on. I told him I just wanted a full refund. He said he would issue me a refund for the Tuner and would consider refunding me for the tunes......if anything the SCT Tuner is the only thing that worked right!

Now he's had it back since Wednesday and I still haven't heard about a refund yet so as of now I'm out over $1000 and not happy.

I guess it's back to some new PHP tunes and 2 month waiting period for them once I get my money back....fml.

Wow that is not cool at all and everybody seems to hype up his tuning skills. Maybe he got too big too fast.

That sucks. Can't you take it some place to get it dyno tuned instead of getting the "canned tunes"?

Great suggestion. Canned tunes make a lot of assumptions as every truck/car is different. Even factory cars have variations. I would find somebody local to do it and tune it on the road not just on the dyno.

It's been running on new Power Hungry Tunes since when VMP's tunes messed it up....I wish I had gotten all my money back from them since I did return everything....oh well....my truck is super happy with the PHP tunes and I have no complaints or issues with them.
