Default Power Steering noise from my F150 when first started...

Lately I'm having a power steering noise happen from my F150 when I first start it and begin to move and turn the wheel. I don't hear it any other time then when I first start moving.

Power steering is filled from my last check two days ago. Any advice from the tech experts here?

Thanks!

I was getting that with my Mustang. It would wine after every autocross run, and occasionally when I started the car.

I flushed mine out and added Royal Purple and it works like a dream. No noise ever, and I guarantee I drive the car much harder now then I used to.

You would most likely be good with just a flush of fresh fluid, but When you're doing it you might as well spend a few more $$ and buy a full synthetic.

Thanks with close to 80k...doubt it was changed before so hopefully it's that. I may try doing it this weekend if its not too complicated to do in my driveway lol

I'll definitely need the full synthetic with the lift and bigger tires lol

It was pretty simple. I could have been done in about 10 minutes but I was expecting another quart of fluid to come out, so i tinkered for another 20 minutes before I was convinced it was all out. (there's not too much in the system, 1.5 qts i believe)

Once it was empty I sprayed around a bunch of brake cleaner to clean out my gunky reservoir.

When filling I jacked up the front end, poured fluid in and turned the wheel left and right, back and forth. Then I turned on the car and repeated until the fluid level was stable and at full. I think that's all the steps, but I did it a while ago so i may have missed something (this is all assuming f-150 uses the same stuff as my mustang), you may want to double check.

Overall not a very hard job with a very good result

Good to hear, will be the first time doing it but probably much cheaper than having a shop do it.....my truck has been around for so long that F150online has tutorials and write ups to do almost anything which I love lol....thanks!
